Job Summary:
Technic is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design the power and control systems for custom plating and surface finishing equipment. This role owns each machine's electrical package, from schematics and panel layouts through shop build and startup. This position may be based at either Technic Equipment in Pawtucket, RI, or Surface Finishing Technologies in Clearwater, FL.
Responsibilities:
- Design electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and field wiring for automated plating and anodizing lines
- Size power distribution, circuit protection, and wiring for rectifiers, heaters, pumps, motors and drives
- Select components and prepare electrical bills of material
- Specify enclosures for corrosive and wet environments
- Design to NFPA 79, UL 508A, and NEC requirements, including machine safety circuits
- Support the panel shop and assembly floor during build and factory acceptance testing
- Assist with field installation, startup, and troubleshooting
Work with mechanical and controls engineers to define I/O and keep drawing standards consistent
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years designing industrial control panels or machinery electrical systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or a similar electrical CAD package
- Working knowledge of NFPA 79, UL 508A, and NEC
- Experience with DC power supplies, rectifiers, VFDs, or servo systems preferred
- PLC familiarity (Allen-Bradley preferred) is a plus
Willingness to travel occasionally for testing and installations
