Technic History

Technic, Inc. was started as a private company in the 1940's and has remained under the original ownership.The firm grew, steadily expanding its plating technology, first in the jewelry industry, and then in the 1950's, in the burgeoning electronics industries. Its customers expanded from New England to the west coast and then Europe and Asia. Today, Technic is one of the world's largest suppliers of precious and non-precious plating chemistry and processes for electronics.

The growth in the company has been driven both by its own research and by acquisitions and partnerships with other companies. The list of this expansion includes:

1986	Acquired Advanced Automation, manufacturer of Reel-to-Reel and P-Dip machines.
1991	Acquired TNT Equipment, manufacturer of MAC series, automated Sidearm Hoists.
1992	Acquired Metal Powders and Flakes Division of Handy & Harman, now Technic Engineered Powders Division.
1992	Acquired American Chemical & Refining, manufacturer of silver salts and precious metal chemistry.
1996	Acquired Baker Bros., including Micro-Plate, manufacturer of Hoists, Reel-to-Reel, web & wide strip and continuous vertical plating equipment.
1997	Acquired designs of Reel-to-Reel equipment from the Carolinch Company.
1997/8	Expanded reach into Europe with acquisitions of Lektrachem Ltd. in England, Sotrachem in France and Italgalvano s.r.l in Italy.
1999	Acquired Engelhard Corp. American Plating Chemicals Group.
2001	Partnership with Alfachimici of Italy for distribution of PWB products in North America.
2002	Acquired the intellectual assets of Radiant Heat, Inc.manufacturer of infrared, hot air and contact heaters and systems.
2003	Acquired the intellectual assets of Plasfab Engineered Systems supplier of plating and anodizing chemical systems to the aerospace, electronics and general metal finishing industries.
